Join us on Thursday May 8, 2025 at 1pm for the next Phoenix Seniors Club event at the Heritage Hall, 83 Essex Street, Guelph. The Heritage Hall is fully accessible. Refreshments will be provided and transportation is available. This event is presented in collaboration with The Buttahfly Initiative.

This month our guest speaker will be Lily Gyamfi-Kumanini. Lily will be presenting her talk “Every Breath Tells a Story: Owning Your Journey, Wisdom & Joy”.  Every breath you’ve taken has carried you through life’s many chapters – moments of strength, wisdom, laughter, and resilience. In this warm, reflective, and uplifting session, Lily invites you to gently own and celebrate your personal story, finding joy and purpose with every breath. Blending intuitive storytelling, gentle breathwork, and the collective wisdom of lived experience, this talk empowers you to reconnect deeply with yourself, honor your legacy, and own the moments that continue to shape your unique stories.

Lily, raised in Waterloo, Ontario, is a seasoned artist with over three decades of experience in performance art. A Journalism graduate,and former student of Acting Methods and Techniques, training under industry professionals from New York, LA, and Florida. Her diverse portfolio spans Film, TV, Theatre, Voice, and Radio, with notable credits including the BET.com Top 10 Film “Daybreak” (2010) and the theatre production “We Could Be” (2021).

After serving as an executive for The Bahamas International Film Festival, she returned to Canada in 2015, where she continued her dedication to the arts. She is presently the Chair JM Drama/The Registry, after advancing from performer to director, Vice President, and eventually Chair by 2020. In 2023, her advocacy was recognized with the Black Excellence in Leadership Award by the Government of Canada.

Lily’s recent work includes facilitating theatre programs, performance coaching, directing, and choreography, as well as collaborations with Multicultural Theatre Space (MT Space), YMCA, DiverseWorks Dance Co, The New Quarterly/XPage!, Engaged Communities Toronto and her role as Executive Producer for the 2024 dance repertoire “Uncovering Roots.” A celebrated Speaker, Podcaster, and Holistic Life Coach, she is known for her transformative R.E.I.G.N. Method, empowering individuals to embrace their true essence and claim their unique paths through the power of storytelling.
