The Reclaimed Routes Bus Tour: Exploring the Queen’s Bush invites you to discover the remarkable stories of Black freedom seekers who built thriving communities after escaping enslavement. This guided tour explores the history, resilience, and legacy of the families who helped shape what are now Waterloo Region and Wellington County.
As you travel through the historic Queen’s Bush, you’ll visit locations connected to early Black settlers who established homes, churches, schools, and cemeteries while creating communities rooted in hope and determination. Although many of these landmarks have disappeared over time, their stories continue to inspire generations today.
This three-hour experience offers an opportunity to learn about an important chapter of Canadian history, reflect on the courage of those who came before us, and celebrate the lasting contributions of Black communities in Ontario.
